  • 2010 Monthly Photo Album

LA of FreckledNest.com had another really fun LA-TV episode last night. You can view the recording HERE. She created an adorable 4x6 photo album to hold all of your favorite photos and memorabilia of 2010. I decided to play along and created my own version. I really like the way it turned out. I also made a few cards with my left over scraps.

  • Popcorn Box Template

    popcorn box

I wanted to come up with different ways to use Lauren’s Cutesy Cover template. My first attempt was to make it into a Popcorn Box! I created the Popcorn Box front and back pieces in SCAL2. You can download the file for free HERE! I added 1”x6” strips of cardinal cardstock to the front.

The Cutesy Cover template is actually sandwiched in between the front and back of the Popcorn Box. I did have to alter it a slight bit, but that is what is so great about these templates-versatility! For this project, open up the SVG template and resize it as large as you can it on a 12x12 mat. In the picture below you’ll see that I cut off the top flap and the top tabs. I then scored all of the fold lines at the tic marks and assembled the box.popcorn box howto2

The cute popcorn springing out of the box was made is SCAL2 with a file I found on the blog, Creations By K8. I cut it three times and adhered wire to the bag using Pop Up Glue Dots (I got them HEREon sale!) I covered the back with a piece of black cardstock. To get a more finished look, you could cut the black shadow six times and adhere those to the back to fully cover it up.

Here is a close up of the tag. I stamped the popcorn image twice so that I could pop up just the box. The stamp is from a retired Stampin Up set called Comfort Food. popcorn box closeup

If you use the Popcorn Box template, I’d love to see what you created with it. Please leave a link in the comments section.

I’ll email you for your address and ship your goodies out this weekend.

Now for some fun projects I’ve been working on. I had my wisdom teeth removed this week, so I haven’t been feeling up to doing much of anything. But, these projects took literally less than 30 minutes to complete. This was because the products from My Time Made Easy are designed to save you time! If you haven’t heard, Lauren Meader has a new online store offering clear stamps, packaging templates, digital paper, and cut file accents. Let me start off with the Pretty Impressions clear stamps. I received the All A Flutter stamps and sentiments and was immediately shocked by how many stamps are included in each package. Then I opened the package and was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the stamps. They stamp beautifully.

I’ve been a fan of Lauren’s packaging templates for a while, but now that she has her own store, they are offered in a variety of file types for various electronic cutting machines (Cricut, Pazzles, Wishblade, Shilouette, CraftROBO, Klic N Kut, and Gazelle). These will save you tons of time. In my case, all I have to do is import the SVG file in SCAL2, resize if necessary, and cut. This is the same process for the cut file accents.

My Time Made Easy also offers digital paper designed by Kristin Bueter. These were obviously designed with coordination in mind. These will make your projects come together so quickly. When our printer is working correctly, I will be utilizing these more in my projects.

Here are my two quick and easy projects. The first is a layout using only the Flutters and Flowers Pretty Pieces as my embellishments. I pulled the cardstock colors from my little cousins shirt and started cutting tons of butterflies. I simply opened up my SCAL2 program, imported the Flutters and Flowers SVG file, resized the butterflies and cut! The welded title was also cut in SCAL2. I really like the simplicity of the layout.

This card came together so quickly! You may notice that the white focal point is actually the scraps from the Cutesy Cover template. I will be showing you a project tomorrow using that template (which is FREE by the way!) After pulling the template off of the mat, I noticed this shape and thought it would be nice on a card. I used American Crafts scarlet and white cardstock as well as Stampin’ Up! tempting turquoise cardstock. I used Stampin’ Up! real red ink and Kaiser Crafts red and turquoise rhinestones. I also used a Stampin’ Up! tempting turquoise grosgrain ribbon and scalloped border punch.

I hope you’ll check back tomorrow for a cute project and a FREE SCAL2 file!
